What is the difference between a trailer hitch and a receiver?
A receiver hitch is the most common type of trailer hitch: a square tube (usually 1.25, 2 or 2.5 inches) that accepts a ball mount, bike rack or other insert. Hitches are rated by class (I to V) for the weight they can tow.
How do I know how much my truck can tow?
Your owner's manual and the door-jamb label give the towing capacity and weight limits. The lowest rating among the vehicle, hitch, ball mount and ball applies.
